Key Termite and Pest Control was started in 1945 by Val Key. Our family purchased the business in 1975 from Val’s son Chris who still lives in Atascadero. The business has grown over the last 60+ years to become an industry leader in Termite and Pest Control for the Real Estate industry. I feel we have built a solid reputation for honest inspections, customer service and work quality. We strive to employ the best people in the industry and improve their skills through continued education. I have tried to list as much helpful information as possible on our web site. Although not as high tech as some (I wrote the site myself), many have commented that they found useful information or direction from our site. If you have a problem, I want to get you the solution. This solution often does not require our help. For example, I just got a call from a customer who wanted a second bid to fumigate their house. When I found that the pest was probably a spider mite, I explained that this is a pest of landscaping that often overpopulates and can move indoors by the hundreds of thousands. The solution was to have the pest properly identified and if confirmed as a spider mite, to check the adjacent plant growth on the exterior. Many simple treatment options were explained and I am glad they did not call the other company to fumigate their house. It would have been a waste of their money. People are smart. If you identify a legitimate problem and adequately explain the options and reasons, they will trust you with their service needs and recommend you to others. This has been the path of our success.
I have been CEO/President of Key Termite and Pest Control, Inc. since April 1990 and have worked in the Pest Control Industry since 1979. I have been licensed as a Pest Control Operator since 1985. I maintain licenses in all three branches of Pest Control; Fumigation, Pest Control, and Termite Control. I also maintain an Agricultural QAL (qualified applicator) license. Our business model is to focus on being the absolute best at what we do first, customer satisfaction second and profit third. People will always be more important than money. I constantly pursue cutting edge technology and implement the best techniques.
